Nashville Ambient Ensemble – “Waveguide”

A bit of a comedown after the jangle highs today. Nashville Ambient Ensemble announced their sophomore album this week, a continuation of the embryonic cocoon of 2021’s Cerulean. “Waveguide” floats onto the speakers with kosmiche keys, pillowy ambiance, and Deli Paloma-Sisk’s voice lost somewhere in the cloud citadel that the band has built. Hix’s keys remain a high point here, approaching an almost prog edge, akin to recent works by Adam MacDougall (Circles Around The Sun) but matched with Jack Silverman’s icy guitars, the song tumbles into a completely unique headspace somewhere between Ashra and Bruce Langhorne. The new album, Light and Space, is out April 14th from Centripetal Force.
