Edsel Axel – “Variable Happiness”

There’s always been a satisfying balance with Rosali’s output between the coctail-napkin honesty of her impeccable vocal work and the rumpled immediacy of her solo guitar excursions. This time she moves away from her own name, adopting an alias much like the burnt tatters of her work in Monocot. Though, the first glimpse into Edsel Axle is more aligned with the tape she’d issued for Unifactor in 2021. “Variable Happiness,” is quiet and contemplative, an improvisation laid straight to tape that winds around the listener in widening loops. A cotton fuzz hums along in unison with Rosali’s strings, as the song floats higher into the clouds. The new record Variable Happiness, is out August 11th from Worried Songs.
