Tony Jay – “Isolated Visions”

Avatar

The warm hug of hiss is seeping out of San Francisco and into the world at large. Alongside Cindy, Flowertown, and April Magazine, the Bay Area’s Tony Jay has been harnessing the comforting cocoon of jangle wrapped in a flanneled fuzz. The band makes a jump to Slumberland for his latest. The alter ego of Michael Ramos (Flowertown, Sad Eyed Beatniks), Tony Jay pairs the songwriter’s lanky, grease-painted visage that feels like Joey Ramone gone Black Metal with a lonesome, bedroom aesthetic. “Isolated Visions” makes good on its solitary title, incanting soft solitudes from behind a wall of tape hiss so thick you can wrap it around yourself twice. The new album, Perfect Worlds, is out September 15th from Slumberland.
