Oisin Leech – “One Hill Further”

On this side of the Atlantic, the roll up to Oisin Leech’s solo debut has been quiet, but the Irish songwriter’s works bypass bluster by nature. New single “One Hill Further” arrives this week, again featuring producer Steve Gunn along with Tony Garnier (Bob Dylan). Rising out of morning mists, the song benefits from Gunn’s stark production, framing Leech’s heartbreaking croon in a tangled nest of downy guitars and Róisín McGrory’s mournful fiddle work. Leonard Cohen and Fred Neil fans should have little trouble digging into the works on Cold Sea. The song’s accompanying video wraps the song’s gentle resolve in a pastoral veneer, streaked with a melancholy rain. The new album, Cold Sea, is out March 8th from Outside Music/Tremone Records.
