Lovely to see that Thrill Jockey is continuing its partnership with Feeding Tube artists, giving them a wider stage. Following the already anticipated release from Magic Tuber Stringband, the label sets up a new record from beloved Montreal-based songwriter Myriam Gendron. Gendron’s last record was a warm and tender collection that cushioned the blow of everyday life. The first strains of Mayday look to leap back into that mode, with “Long Way Home” bringing its cottony comforts to the speakers this week. The song exudes a sense of relief, the kind that can only come from finally returning to a place of safety after a long stint away. Myriam’s new album, Mayday, arrives May 10th from Thrill Jockey and Feeding Tube.
