Modern Nature – “Cascade”

Following on the ambitious, expansive Island of Noise from last year, Jack Cooper returns again to Modern Nature. He’s assembled a cadre of collaborators who share his vision of “rhythms and instrumentation that reflect the chaos, unpredictability, and color of the natural world.” “Cascade” provides a bridge between the terrarium of the previous album and the wider world at large on No Fixed Point In Space. Flecked with winds and rolling rhythms, the song is an attempt to capture how overwhelming the world can be as you begin to break it down — from the beautiful to the terrible, from the finite to the infinite expanses that lie above.

The new album features contributions from Anton Lukoszevieze, Mira Benjamin and Heather Roche of Apartment House, Alex Ward (This Is Not This Heat / Spiritualized), Dominic Lash, Chris Abrahams of The Necks, Julie Tippetts (FKA Julie Driscoll) as well as long-term collaborators Jeff Tobias (Sunwatchers) and Jim Wallis.
