A couple of familiar names with a new outfit cropping up this week, Peter Kerlin (Sunwatchers, Solar Motel Band) and Rob Smith (Grey/Smith, Rhyton, Pigeons, D. Charles Spear) combine talents to form Animal, Surrender! Built on the pair’s roots in rhythm, the first cut finds Smith and Kerlin weaving bass through knotted drums. “Led By The Bit,” is a hypnotic first salvo among an album that finds the pair tacking works by Mike Wexler and Nick Drake among their originals. The new record, also titled Animal, Surrender! is out May 17th from Ernest Jenning Record Co.
