Lewsberg – “Without A Doubt”

Avatar

A constant favorite around here, Dutch four-piece Lewsberg have been slyly putting out pop gems for years now, straddling the line between VU austerity and indie pop’s softer side. Two new singles spring up today, leaning decidedly towards the more delicate strains of their sound, letting a bit of their early brittleness fall away while retaining the charms that drew ’em to us endure. The band’s spare sound remains — simple, yet evocative — a tether that binds Modern Lovers’ shaggy trappings, Young Marble Giants’ knack for stripping pop to its chassis, and the cushioned comfort of Galaxie 500. If the band’s pop sway has eluded you this long, then get this one high on the list of anticipated releases for 2023. The band’s new album, Out And About, arrives on September 15th, on 12xU in the US and self-released elsewhere.
