Gerycz Powers Rolin – “Entrance”

Ah, something always gets lost in a Bandcamp Friday, and unfortunately it was the news of a new offering from Gerycz Powers Rolin, the trio formation of RSTB faves Powers/Rolin Duo. Good news is, there’s still time to get into it today! With a new album on the way from 12xU, the trio follows up on their essential 2021 album Lamplighter. Album opener, “Entrance” finds the band exploring the ecstatic motion of their works. The song finds Jen Powers’ dulcimer and Jason Gerycz’ drums moving with the intense fury of dust-cloud permutations before settling into a sense of unease towards the song’s back half. Matthew Rolin’s guitar rambles over the storm with an assured air, feeling its way through high dessert lamentations. The new record, Activator, finds its way to shelves and speakers on January 12th from 12xU.
