Colored Lights – “Stabbing Clouds”

Bobo Integral lines up a psych-pop gem for the fall, offering up the debut from Frode Strømstad (I Was a King, The No Ones) as Colored Lights. Tapping into the temperament of the E6 roster, the fuzzed tones and sunshine melodies of “Stabbing Clouds” finds Strømstad making a pretty good case for keeping a close eye on the band. Throbbing bass pushes the song skyward until the chorus breaks wide open with heavenly harmonies. Fans of Elf Power, Apples in Stereo, Young Fresh Fellows, or The Surfing Magazines should find plenty to lock onto here. The eponymous new album is out September 15th.
