Bong Wish – “Hazy Road”

Been waiting for this one to get up on Bandcamp as there are packed gems on the debut from Mariam Saleh aka Bong Wish. The Boston-based songwriter follows up on her EP for the sadly departed Beyond Beyond is Beyond, moving to Feeding Tube to release an album that straddles the lines between psych, folk, and pop. The title track makes good on hazy promises, bolting out of the barrel with backwards sonics before locking into a garage gone gauze aesthetic that melts in the afternoon sun as the song wears on. A driving beat and fuzzed leads anchor “Hazy Road,” but there’s little hope holding this one down, floating up into the stratosphere on Saleh’s gazed vocals. The new album is out now and highly recommended!
