There was a deep nostalgia to Supercrush’s last album, but one that was so nicely rooted in the late ‘90s power pop tradition that it hit me square in the soft spot. The band continues that tradition on a follow-up EP that feels like it could easily have come out with the band anchoring a Fountains of Wayne tour that found them bumping dates with Nada Surf, and The Rentals along the way. The video embraces the slackened-aesthetics of their chosen era, a fish-eye lens lending a bit of grit to their soak in the deep end of heart-heavy fuzz pop. The new EP, Melody Maker is out June 3rd on KR Records (U.S.), Debt Offensive Records (Canada), Erste Theke Tonträger (EU), and Flake Records (Japan).
