Green Hands – “Been Around”

Avatar

A good day for jangle pop around these parts as UK outfit Green Hands releases their second single from an upcoming EP. “Been Around” takes the wheel with exuberant strums, a nod-inducing rhythmic shuffle, and background coos that balance the track between ‘80s alt-pop and the ‘10s post-Britpop hangover. The band nods to The La’s and that speaks quite heartily to this balance as that band always felt like once of the sparks that lit the Britpop flame, but they remain rooted in the indie wilds that preceded the wave. Green Hands have been hanging in the ranks of Langkamer’s label Breakfast Records, and its easy to see how they have ties with LK’s love of the ‘90s pop pantheon as well, kindred spirits in the archeology of past hits. The new EP, Anyplace, Anywhere, Anytime, packs in four new nuggets and rolls to the shelves on March 1st. ’Til then, just try to unstick this one from your brain.
