This lovely country album from Aussie group Family Jordan snuck out last month and it’s been popping up on my speakers now and again, particularly this slouched and sunburned strummer “Stillness.” The song underpins a shuffling guitar with pedal steel moans, letting the afternoon air fill every open nook between the notes. The whole album is a welcome gem that roots itself in a bittersweet bliss, stretching through its songs with an unhurried air. Like fellow Aussie country crooners Quality Used Cars, their take both diverges from the American Cosmic Country with a slight hint of their own South Hemi heritage, and draws from the classic West Coast baked-in country calm. The record is out now on Holiday Maker Records.
