Beachwood Sparks – “Torn In Two”

Avatar

Hell of a thing to see this week as Beachwood Sparks announce a new album, their first in twelve years. The first cut out of the triumphant new album, Across The River of Stars, is the bittersweet sway of “Torn In Two.” The song shows the more melancholy side of the band, lost not in the haze and heat that can often accompany their works, but in a hangdog heartbreak that gets tangled up in the afternoon melt of the sun on the shore. The new album’s added a perfumed plume of keys to the mix, courtesy of Jen Cohen-Gunst (Mystic Chords of Memory) and that addition sweetens the sway of “Torn In Two.” The album comes with a hand-drawn video by Mark Neeley, and it’s always a delight to see likeminded heads pair up. His homespun video adds nicely to the song’s sundown sigh. The new album is out July 19th from Curation Records.
