Writhing Squares – “Barbarians”

A paint-peeler out of the always consistent crew in Writhing Squares today. The Philly duo have been regulars around these parts and it’s nice to see them slot a new album on the rolls for later on in 2024. “Barbarians” sinks its teeth into the war-machine atrocities that drape the pages of late, letting fly their vitriol over a bed of venomous riffs and strychnine sax. Bassist Dan Provenzano, cites a desire to lay into a prog-laden Stooges vibe and the band nails the adrenaline n’ amphetamine combo quite nicely. The song leads off the band’s new album, Mythology, which lands April 26th from Trouble In Mind.
