Volksempfänger – “Damned and Drowned”

Ajay Saggar has been thundering through the speakers around here as Bhajan Bhoy, but come December he’s got another outfit on the way. Along with Holly Habstritt, Saggar dives through the mesh and melt of dreampop as Volksempfänger. The latest single, “Damned and Drowned” finds the band riding atop the crash of drums and an acid splash of guitar. The song lights into the legacies of Medicine and Chapterhouse, with just a touch of Lætitia Sadier in the vocals. The band pairs their latest single with a biker psych whiplash of a video that juxtaposes the song’s smoke machine softness with a bit of chaos and confusion. The new album, Attack of Sound, is out December 1st from Feeding Tube and Cardinal Fuzz.
