Vague Plot – “Cyclic”

Avatar

Another consistent label favorite around here, Island House, offers up a new cut today that’s been on the speakers constantly since it slipped into the ether. Vague Plot brings together perennial RSTB regular Zachary Cale with a stable of BK psych vets — Phil Jacob (Psychic Lines), Ben “Baby” Copperhead, Uriah Theriault (Woodsy Pride), and John Studer (Woodsy Pride) for a new outfit that’s pushing away from Cale’s folk pasts and towards a more insistent jazz rock ripple. The first cut, “Cyclic,” loops around the room in muscular gallops, sparring singed guitars against one another, with Phil Jacob’s cosmic sax sluicing through the spaces between. The new record, Crying in 9, is out March 1st from Island House.
