The Stroppies – “The Perfect Crime”

Avatar

Very excited to see this one roll down the feeds this morning. The Stroppies haven’t had a miss yet, and with the announcement of their second full length for Tough Love, they seem poised to keep that streak running. The announcement comes with the release of the single “The Perfect Crime,” a fuzz-molded Aussie rocker that careens atop a chugging rhythm. Nodding in insistent time, the cut throws clashes of guitar back and forth from speaker to speaker — clang vs. twang vs. strum until the strack hisses to a synth laden closer. The record sees the band add new member Zoe Monk (Eggy, Thibault, The Opals) to the mix, rounding them out with the aforementioned synths and an additional guitar. The band captures the ramshackle, edge-of-delirium wave of ‘90s indie and draws it tight with a Wire’s pop via pummel approach. The new album, Levity, is out May 6th from Tough Love.
