Another delightful sigh from the Reds, Pinks, and Purples camp today. As Glenn works his way towards a seventh album, he’s perfected a balance of bittersweet and buoyant. The song tumbles somewhere between Felt and The La’s, a lament on the kind of melancholy that sits on your chest like a lead weight. There’s always been a bit of a cloudy disposition to the RPPs, but on his latest, it seems that the sun shines less than ever. A perfect companion to the relentless crush and commodification of modern life. It’s overwhelming out there, hell is other people, and the RPPs are just trying to get through it too. The new album, Unwishing Well, is out April 12th from Slumberland/Tough Love Records.
