Stepmother – “Fade Away”

Avatar

A tougher nug out of the Aussie camp today, the first single from Stepmother rolls the band’s punk in the ‘70s sweat of MC5 and the garage grit that followed down the line from The Mooney Suzuki on through Fuzz. Screaming guitars are at the forefront with a pelvic pound of riff that drops out of the speakers. “Fade Away” is a relentlessly anthemic first single, shredding its way into heavy hearts everywhere. The band features Graham Clise, known for heavy hitters on Tee Pee, including Annihilation Time, ROT T.V., Lecherous Gaze, and Witch. The band’s debut single for Legless pulls in a lot of the same thunder from those bands as well.
