Sally Anne Morgan – “The Center”

Avatar

RSTB fave Sally Anne Morgan (Black Twig Pickers, House and Land) is back today with a new album on the way. Bridging the divide between the looseness of her EP, Cups, and the meditative works on her last album Thread, the works on Carrying deal with our shared experiences — collective burdens and universal joys. The first single, featuring Lou Turner on flute, is the winding, autumnal folk of “The Center.” The song gallops through the morning mists, pensive, yet still playful. Morgan’s voice soars through the leaf-filtered light, while Turner’s trills dance through the track. Her new album also boasts a huge roster of familiar names. In addition to Turner’s flutes, Andrew Zinn, Nathan Bowles (Black Twig Pickers), Joseph Dejarnette, Joseph O’Connell, Matthew O’Connell and Ripley Johnson (Rose City Band, Moon Duo) also guest. Look for Morgan’s new album out September 22nd on Thrill Jockey.
