Rural France – “Packhorse”

Rural France returns with a new single out this week and news of an album on the way from perennial favorites Meritorio. The band, featuring members of Teenage Tom Petties, has a way with power pop and jangle, rifling through the Teenage Fanclub handbook while dipping into Tony Molina territory in the past. The new single tempers a bit of the punk pounce from their last album, leaning into a rosy glow of strums and keys. “Packhorse” yearns, tumbling through ennui like old pros, but it carries a glow of hope as well. The song crops up on the upcoming Exactamondo!, out on April 26th from Meritorio.
