R.E. Seraphin – “Expendable Man”

Avatar

Another swimming single out of the new R.E. Seraphin record. The Bay Area stalwart has been digging into indie pop for quite a few years, always leaving a smile on my face. The new record, recorded with Jason Quever (Papercuts) and featuring members of Reds, Pinks & Purples, Chime School, and Sleepy Sun, is the clearest distillation of Seraphin’s pop vision yet. With a power pop bite and a bleary-eyed veneer, “Expendable Man” tumbles out of the speakers loose and lovely. The guitars gain a satisfying crunch, offset by Seraphin’s dreamy-eyed delivery and a cushion of backup vox. Check the video above and look out for Fool’s Mate, March 22nd from Take A Turn / Safe Suburban Home.
