Present Electric – “Altruistic Person”

It’s always great to see what’s coming out of SF hub, Paisley Shirt records and that goes double if the project involves labeled Kevin Linn. While Linn is usually cropping up behind his Sad Eyed Beatniks moniker, he introduces a new name for 2023. Inspired by a garage sale painting, which adorns the cover of the release here, Linn dusts his pop in a lo-fi lacquer as Present Electric. “Altruistic Person,” ambles through the pop fields, fuzzed and wrapped in an duct-taped vision of pop that’s rough but more than ready with the charms. The song bristles with life, pushing beyond the indie-pop pounce of Linn’s usual offerings and letting in a more voracious appetite for sounds that are singed, but sweet. The new, eponymous album is out July 7th.
