Podcasts – “Cockatoos”

There’s a hell of a lot of music today, but I’d be remiss if I left out the new single from Oslo’s Podcasts. Off of their upcoming album for Prefect Records, this cut tamps down the classic ‘90s alt impulses that drove the the motor on “Summerland, 1992.” A patient strum pervades “Cockatoos,” wrapping around the band’s bittersweet harmonies with a beautiful glow. The band’s sense of space remains their best asset. Ripples of bass, wispy clouds of synth, and an underlying optimism delivered with an audible sigh make this stick to the listener with ease. The eponymous new album is out August 4th.
