Mapache – Ghosts

Mapache let out another excellent single from the upcoming Swinging Stars, and like early offering “People Please,” “Ghosts” finds the band straying from their more staid work, filling the room with the pound of piano and Blasucci’s impassioned pleas. The band’s decampment to Panoramic House seems to have given them a spark, rolling out of the comfort of Roscoe’s Dream and into an album that’s more rumpled and restless. The McCartney-esque scratch on this one finds the band exploring their influences and letting Mapache evolve. The quietude of their early works was a peaceful respite for listeners, but its just as nice to see the band bristle from time to time. The new album is out August 18th from Innovative Leisure.
