Lee Baggett – “All Star Day”

Avatar

Another one to brighten up a grey slip into the Autumn months, memories of summer just barely fading from the mind. Lee Baggett has been quietly curling out country-fried folk for a few years yet but with the upcoming Echo Me On he pushes the sound towards new heights. The Little Wings collaborator took new works into SF studio Juniper House, trailing along with him a full band, a trio of backup singers, and a string section. The first cut from the new album finds the shift towards a fuller form in full swing, ambling into view with piano, strums, and Baggett’s smoke and sassafras rasp. A touch of honeyed harmonies back up his vocals as the song wears on, feeling like just the kind of song to help soak in the sun. The new record is out December 22nd from Perpetual Doom.
