A lovely piece (among many others) from an upcoming tribute to John Fahey organized by José Medeles and featuring M. Ward, Chris Funk, and Marisa Anderson. Mendeles, a drummer who has worked with The Breeders, Ben Harper, Modest Mouse and others put this together as “A Drummer’s Tribute to John Fahey.” The collection is not covers, but new works that take inspiration from Fahey’s work. “Please Send to J.F.” finds Anderson in fine form, rippling strings through a country blues ramble while Mendeles sketches out a skitter behind her. The collection, RAILROAD CADENCES & MELANCHOLIC ANTHEMS is out May 20th from Jealous Butcher Records.
