Hooveriii – “See”

After the gnarled textures of Water For Frogs, Hooveriii slide back into view with a new single today and a new album on the way that embraces a shinier vision of psych-pop. Glossed with studio sweetened guitar slices, a tumbling rhythm, and vocal harmonies the band pushes closer to fellow L.A. compatriots Communicant and Frankie and the Witch Fingers, with echoes of Ty’s widescreen productions of late. There’s a particular kinship with Grave Flowers Bongo Band, whose Gave Flores joins the lineup for this album. With an occult-desert vid to accompany, “See” is one of the most fun singles from Bert Hoover and crew yet! A Round of Applause is out July 29th from Reverberation Appreciation Society.
