Hooveriii – “Dreaming”

Avatar

The unfolding of the new Hooveriii continues and “Dreaming” serves to prove that the upcoming record is the band’s most expansive yet. The culmination of a winding psych/prog trip, the song finds the band at their most serene, though the group’s Bert Hoover describes the cut as “the border where dreams become nightmares,” framing it as perhaps not as inviting as it might first appear. Pushing away the smoke plumes and psychedelics for a comedown shiver with a country soul, the song is a stark contrast to much of their past dynamics. The cut finds the band in good company, featuring Alice Wallace on vocals and Olaf Selland on pedal steel. They frame it up with a cosmic video that pairs well with the song’s airy aura. The new record, Pointe, is out October 13th from The Reverberation Appreciation Society, and the band heads out on tour with Mudhoney next week.
