Helpful People – “Brokenblossom Threats”

Getting a bit of a slow start to this week after a rather busy weekend, but I’m just in time to catch an excellent new single from new RSTB faves Helpful People. The band is a collaboration between Glenn Donaldson (Skygreen Leopards, The Reds, Pinks & Purples) and Carly Putnam (The Oilies/The Mantles). The outfit finds itself working through similarly hazed and jangled territory to what RPP’s been working towards over the last few years, squinting through the sun while the guitars lay down just a touch of scorch on the skin. The latest single slides nicely into your rotation between Chime School, Business of Dreams, and the unspooled memories of Sarah and 4AD left floating in the brain. The band’s new album, Brokenblossom Threats, is out on Tall Texan.
