Cory Hanson – “Western Cum”

Already holding steady on the 2023 favorites list, the latest album from Cory Hanson finds his solo work expanding out of the folk shadows and into the sunspot scotch of arid Americana. That album, Western Cum, gets an addendum today with the announcement of a two-track digital companion featuring the album’s title track along with another non-album track, “I Can’t Keep My Eyes Open.” Despite the album’s rough-cut title, it lacked a song that addressed said Western Cum, but Cory’s here to correct the omission. The new cut maintains the album’s fire, engulfed by a barrage of guitars while soaking up the Western imagery. Hardly a b-side, the track feels like a necessary extension of the album’s desert expanses. The track is out today with the full single sliding onto the speakers October 27th. The single coincides with a new run of North American dates through the fall.
