Circles Around the Sun & Mikaela Davis – “After Sunrise”

Last year saw great records from both Mikaela Davis and Circles Around The Sun. A highlight on the latter’s offering was a collaboration with Davis, the shimmering closer “Language.” Davis and CATS are set to head out on a tour shortly and with that on the horizon they also offer up a collaborative EP. The EP’s namesake finds them sinking sweetly into a cover of Sérgio Mendes’ ‘After Sunrise.’ The song gets a light neon scrub from the band, with Davis’ harp bringing the breeze and a gauzy vocal treatment that’s a departure from the band’s usual work. The new EP also features a pair of originals alongside an extended, live cut of “Language” recorded in Boston. The After Sunrise EP is out April 5th and the band and Davis wind your way late Feb-March.
