Those Pretty Wrongs follow up their string of reissues on Curation Records with the announcement of their third album, Holiday Camp, out next March. The band, featuring members of Big Star and The Freewheelers, continues to dig into the core of Memphis’ windswept power pop sound, pairing the Argent openness with a bit of UK nostalgia. “Paper Cup” is draped in the airy melancholy of Emmit Rhodes, Nick Lowe, and Honeybus and the mix of the US south and English air proves potent on this cut. Alongside its two core luminaries, Jody Stephens and Luther Russell, the new album features contributions from Chris Stamey (The dB’s), Mitch Easter and Patrick Sansone (Wilco). Check out the video for “Paper Cup,” directed by Fred Joseph with some ‘60s talk show nods.
