The next single from Newcastle-Upon-Tyne’s Smote is soaked in a heavier drape of gloom than the first. On their latest album, the band oscillates between psych-folk, doom, and drone, but they’re leaning full bore into the doom on “Lof.” Just a touch under ten minutes, the cut crawls from the bogs, ragged and ravaged, heart filled with revenge. The sour smoke that fills the band’s lungs emanates out of the speakers, giving a good dose of anticipation for the upcoming Genog. The album arrives March 10th from Rocket Recordings.
