Semi-Trucks – “13th Floor”

Avatar

The pervasive trend of West Coast indie getting its due overseas continues today. Following a British and EU love for April Magazine, The Reds, Pinks and Purples, Massage, and The Telephone Numbers, Spain’s Meritorio Records announces pickup of L.A.’s Semi-Trucks. The brainchild of Brendan Sepe, the record exudes bedroom charms. The pop on “13th Floor’ is spare and serene, finding its grace in small moments and hushed solitude. Like April Magazine’s spare, fizzing indie pop Sepe’s works feel laid to tape under a blanket while the rest of the house slumbers. Even by 4 track tendencies the song feels particularly woolen — a fuzzed gem that’s rolled in reticence, then photocopied twice over until the edges begin to crackle just enough. The band’s new album Vs. California is out November 26th from Meritorio.
