Sad Eyed Beatniks – “Ring Around Annie”

I got caught up with family last week, but that’s no reason not to round back on this excellent new single from SF’s Sad Eyed Beatniks. “Ring Around Annie” heralds the Beatniks’ first album for Spain’s Meritorio Records, pushing away from their hometown home at Paisley Shirt. The song’s a bit of a low-key affair, starting with a vacant lot ambience before washing up in faded jangle territory. With the sun squinting it its eyes, “Annie” ripples with a late-afternoon feeling, matching its wandering energy with the neighborhood-centric video that accompanies it. The band’s new album Claudia’s Ethereal Weaver is out in January from Meritorio, yet more reason to keep your ears locked on the Bay Area for jangled delights.
