Panghalina – “Glass Lake”
A gorgeous new video from Melbourne trio Panghalina. The new outfit from Maria Moles (Jaala, The Stoics) explores duality and the malleability of sound, emotion, and humanity. The record pairs Moles’ synths and percussion with ethereal voices and double bass from Helen Svoboda and Bonnie Stewart. The first song from the upcoming Lava washes over the listener with an icy calm, the vocals soft and saturated with a feeling that’s somewhere between ritual and rite. It’s a meditation that’s imbued with something earthen and communal. The accompanying video for “Glass Lake” was made through a series of filming experiments with paint, dye, milk, oil and detergent. It creates a slow-motion light show feeling that nods to the album’s title. The new record, Lava, is out February 2nd from Room 40.
