Thoroughly enjoying this bonkers video that John Dwyer and co. have rolled out for the latest psych-jazz odyssey Moon-Drenched. Taking the same expansive tack towards cosmic jazz that he’d done with Witch Egg, the new album is hooked into the psych-funk freak vein, pulling from Mwandishi-era Herbie and Live-Evil Miles burndowns. The accompanying video sets up a pair who seem to be relentlessly purifying into order to ascend this world and hit that cosmic vibe themselves. The paring of the audio and visual work as a nice mini film unto themselves and even if it wasn’t part of a larger piece, this would be entertaining on its own. The directions crew (Jordan Harris & Andrew Schrader) describe what’s going on as Jodorowsky doing his take on Martin Scorsese’s “The Big Shave.” The new record is out May 28th from Castle Face.
