Kilynn Lunsford has been a constant here at the site, from her excellent work with Little Claw to recent records with Taiwan Housing Project. The Philly native strikes out solo for her latest, a stark exploration of where pop meets post-punk and avant-rock fades into performance art. Instead of a rush of blazing guitar that’s often accompanied her work, the first strains of strings feel strangled — a chewed-tin tensile attack that’s looped underneath her post-punk patter and thrift-shop drum click. The new album will push her abrasive approach further than before, pulling fidelity in several directions and running a good dose of mercury-poisoned punk through the blood. Custodians Of Human Succession is out November 17th from Never/Ever.
