Garcia Peoples – “False Company”

Avatar

Never a bad day when there’s a new Garcia Peoples track in the running and today the band completes the preview of the first side of the upcoming LP with “False Company.” The album opener has a darker edge with less of the free-flowing sunshine that makes up the triple suite of songs that follow it as listeners ease into Dodging Dues. Despite the hard edge, there’s a feeling of Anglican folk in the bones of “False Company” — King Crimson covering Fairport or Jansch. They pull the mold from that particular fire, but harden the hooks in a swamped prog blues basin complete with creosote-thick guitar solos that coat the senses. “Fair Thee Well, Oh Troubled Mind” Garcia peoples are here to burn off the decay. The new album is out January 14th on No Quarter.
