Edena Gardens – “Hidebound”
This year (like pretty much every year) El Paraiso has been serving up excellent offerings. The latest combination of house players sees Jakob Skøtt & Martin Rude pair up with Papir guitarist Nicklas Sørensen. Rude and Skøtt have already been making magic as a duo, trio with Tamar Osborn, and their new quartet London Odense Ensemble, but this pushes away from the jazz-psych stint they’ve been on and back towards the cosmic psychedelia of Causa Sui and Papir. Though the works of Edena Gardens glimmer with a more measured approach. The first single, the 6-minute “Hidebound” finds Sørensen’s guitar patiently winding around effusive keys from Rude. in a beautiful bout of fogged crystal psych swirl. The band’s eponymous debut album is out October 28th.
