Pretty great one-off collab right here between Howlin’ Rain and Chris Robinson. Robinson jumps on vocals for a pair of Mott The Hoople covers, pressed down to limited 7” with a black light sensitive print. In the days of vinyl backups, this is the kind of over the top excellence that just isn’t coming out right now and I’m totally here for it. The band and Robinson swagger through “Sucker” on the A-side, turning the AYD deep cut into a truly fried desert burner that plays off of Chris’ tarred rasp and Ethan’s sunfire solo. They dip back to early Hoople for a cover of Brain Capers’ opener “Death May Be Your Santa Claus” an oddball choogle that captures just what the crossover crew is going for on this release. If you were quick on the trigger, then you could have snagged a limited run of test presses with alternate covers, but the rest of the singles are limited ot a press of 500. Get one!
