Jeanines – “Any Day Now”

Avatar

Good news out of the Slumberland camp today. One of my favorite jangle-pop outfits of the last few years has been Jeanines, the duo of Alicia Jeanine and Jed Smith (Mick Trouble, My Teenage Stride). The band’s debut was a bright spot in dark times that found them channeling everyone from Aislers Set to Veronica Falls. On their latest they lean in harder to the latter impulses, finding a bit of grey-streaked folk swoon and lashing it to a healthy chime of guitars that chases the clouds away. The band’s new album, Don’t Wait For A Sign, is out on April 22nd from their home at Slumberland. The label has been killing it this past year and 22 shows no signs of shaking off their sterling reputation.
