The Maureens – “Alison”

Avatar

Nice bit of jangle pop here on a Friday morning with the Meritorio debut from Dutch four-piece The Maureens. “Alison” floats out of the speakers on strums undercut with a melancholy air. The band leans into pillowy harmonies with touches of power pop laced into the mix. As the track builds the high harmonies bring to mind The Beach Boys while the tenor and tone of the track speak to a love of Elliott Smith. The band’s new album, Everyone Smiles, is out in January from Meritorio Records.
