The Lentils – “Big Day in the World of Exits”

Avatar

An insanely loose and limber brainworm from the new album by The Lentils hits the site today. The band grew out of the demise of the Happy Jawbone Family Band, following Luke Csehak to L.A. where he’s assembled a mass of musicians running something between 13 and 20 strong. As Feeding Tube Notes, this is “either the 7th, 8th, or 10th lentils album depending on how you count.” Whatever the math, “Big Day in the World of Exits” is a shambolic pop slice, hung on flute and gnarled strums. The song slips and slides on its hooks, never sure of its footing, but still holding tight to your consciousness with an vice grip. The label ran a scant run of unique lathe cuts that have sold through, but you can still nab this one digitally or on cassette. It’s recommended that you dip in for a bit with the Lentils.
