Swimming Bell – “Take It Easy”

A second single swans through the speakers from Swimming Bell, the moniker adopted by LA songwriter Katie Schottland. With a touch of country wafting through the air, the song also plays with folk and pop in a way that’s familiar from other West Coast contemporaries like Jess Williamson or Pearl Charles. “Take It Easy” sinks into the sunset, an evening wander of a song that showcases the inherent softness of Schottland’s songwriting. The call for calm conjures up verdant expanses with sun filtering through the trees. She pairs the new cut with a video from Lisa Bolden that sutures the calm climes to an air of surreal whimsy. The new record, Charlie, is out January 19th from Permanent Records.
