Slow Dawn – “Decompression”

Avatar

Got a corroded careen this morning from Ottawa’s Slow Dawn. The band’s grime barnacled post-punk crawls to life out of the shadows. Synths peer through the dark like beacons, but are refracted off of the obfuscation of guitar foam on “Decompression.” The slow churn of the song whips at the edge of the whirlpool they create, drawing the listener down into the murky depths that are reflected in the claustrophobic video that accompanies the cut. The band’s new album, Into The Machine Haus, is out May 13th from Centripetal Force / Cardinal Fuzz.
