Skyway Man – “The Holding On”

A fun, stylized video this morning from Skyway Man, for the new single “The Holding On.” The cut was sourced from AV Geeks, a group that rescans old 16mm archival footage, and cut into a narrative that’s somewhere between ‘60s mental ward hallucinations and MK Ultra prep-films. The single itself is a more tender side of the upcoming Flight of the Long Distance Healer. The record features quite a few familiar names around these parts — Erin Rae, Vetiver’s Andy Cabic, Spencer Cullum, and Kelly McFarling, among others. Where the last single was draped with a grandeur fit for the festival stage, “The Holding On,” is slightly reserved and reigned in, with buzzing synths and tumbling keys mingling with Wallace’s country croon. The new record lands 11/3 from Mama Bird Recording Co.
